Starting over!
We have both been working hard behind the scenes on the website and yet there is still so much work to do on it!
If we are being totally honest, the website was nearly finished last week but Simon got up one day and simply decided he didn’t like what had been created. Literally he has just scrapped it completely and will now not even use anything from it!
To be fair, we aren’t planning to make the website visible for a while yet and even when it does go public, we know that it will still be a work in progress! Some ideas are not meant for now and we are ok with that however we do seem to be putting pressure on ourselves when it comes to how the website should look! We didn’t plan for it to be this way but the more and more we work on it, the more passionate we have become about making sure that it is accessible to anyone that visits it.
It’s strange but the general Church side of things doesn’t seem pressurised at all. We are really pressing into God in a much deeper way than any of us have previously done and we are reaping the benefits of walking in step with Him. We know that this is His Church, not ours and this is probably why we don’t feel out of our depth! He gives us the Words, He directs our steps and even when things don’t go to plan, He still turns up so we are always on the winning side.
The website seems different though, probably because we know that potentially this could be a lifeline to people who will never step through our doors! It may be the only way that some people find out about Jesus and how much He loves them! One of our hopes is that people will be able to find things easily so we are trying hard to not have too many page options on the front page as we know it can be overwhelming. We are also spending plenty of time on the ‘wording’ of everything as potentially people will stumble across us or our friends will at least have a sneaky look. The wording has to be understandable for someone who is yet to believe!
We know there is no right or wrong way to have a website as every Church has their own preference of how their website should look but one of the biggest frustrations we are finding is that once we think that we have got the new website template to a standard that we both like, we flick it to the phone view and everything moves out of place! Honestly, getting the balance right for both desktop and phones is so much trickier than it looks when in reality we are novices!
We don’t give up though; we will keep going as this is important to us and others! We are hopeful that we will be able to make the website active by the end of the month. Our preferred date is the 31st October as we are trying to bring something beneficial out of Halloween!
