Talk about Territorial!
We’ve only been church planting for five weeks and already there is an instant dislike to us being here!
When people started to run in the Church saying they were being chased; you can imagine how alarmed we were! What was going on out there? What was different? All we had done is put out a Banner for ‘One Church’. A quick look out and we just knew we needed a plan! We were reminded of that famous saying; the one that says “Their bark is worse than their bite”. Hmmm, well we were actually thinking that their bite will really hurt!
Very quickly we learnt that offended geese are not so easy to chase off!
They became very territorial and were literally chasing the people as they got out their cars to come in to Church. It’s strange but we have not read about this type of opposition when church planting! All we knew is that we were ‘taking this land’ and we would ‘take them’ if needed. The battle was on!
Luckily for us, they did finally waddle off! There was no big showdown in the end; the geese simply retreated once they knew we had a butcher on our team. It was too big a risk to them, knowing Christmas was just round the corner!
We are intrigued to know what things have tried to stop you sharing the gospel?
Make us laugh and email us at 1churchlancs@gmail.com with your weird and wonderful stories. We would love to hear them.
It did make us think about the blog that had been written a few days before titled ‘Don’t Back Down’ which can be found in our Grow page in the Blog Section. If you haven’t had chance to read it then please do as we all have things that we face in life that will try to intimidate or discourage us. We pushed through and we are so glad we did as Jesus was preached!
We are here to stay and so is Jesus so the geese better get used to it!
